Brett Jones

VINISUD 2012 AMBASSADOR" for United Kingdom

Wine Maestro Brett Jones has spent over forty years learning about, working with, teaching others about, and – naturally – enjoying wine. His initial interest was kindled during training at the Swiss Hotel School in Lausanne in the 1960s. After further experience in top European hotels, where he was able continue his studies as well as having the opportunity to taste and learn more about wine, Brett opened his wine bar and bistro in Billericay, Essex. This was in 1976 and the British love of wine was in its infancy.

Customers and friends needed help and guidance in discovering more about wine and learning about the different countries and regions that produced it: Brett is more than happy to share his knowledge and was constantly extending his own research through visits to wine producing regions.

This will be his fourth visit to Vinisud and is looking forward to meeting old friends, making new ones and discovering delicious wines.

An evening in Marsala, West Sicily

Their attention to detail together with their knowledge of the region helped to make these visits very special. Size matters on tiny streets… #winelovers are #foodlovers too Three of us had met up in Palermo the previous evening where we acclimatised ourselves with a walk through the tiny streets and revelled in the colours, smells and cries of the market.…

Wines of Portugal in Brentwood

It was a suitably sunny evening yesterday when I went to present a tasting of Portuguese Wines for my old friends of the Brentwood Wine Appreciation Society. Having visited Portugal several times and seen the continuing improvement of their wines I always enjoy showing Portuguese wines at tastings and supplying the members of my wine club. Line up of wines…
Prior to our tour of the wine region of Mount Etna we stayed in Noto, Sicily, and one day we drove down to the coast to visit the most southerly part of this island that straddles the Mediterranean between Europe and Africa. We noticed a couple of huge buildings on the coast that had been tuna processing factories, called Tonnare.…

In the highest vineyard on Mount Etna

Earlier this year we visited an exhibition in Chambéry of wines from mountains and steep slopes, so it was exciting to have the chance to visit the lofty vineyards of Mount Etna, Sicily. And one of the highest vineyards of Europe is Vigna del Bosco. At 1300 metres above sea level and on the North West slopes of Mount Etna…
